New seasons, new obstacles, same narrow path. This new Bobby Blaze album touches on a variety of topics plus various features with a plethora of fresh phonic flavors. The "Road 2 Redemption" is never a straight one, nor is the road of life; but hopefully this new album will be something to listen to while traveling either path.

The album kicks off with an intense Battle Cry accompanied by Alan Booth, of the band Abbott's Cross, then rolls right into the concept of having Beef With Myself. We won't always like reaping what we sew but we always need to deal with it since what is done in the dark will always come to the light. That is why the following song is called Pray 4 Me featuring international vocalist Aylius since we all need to remember to pray for each other, or intercede for all people.

Another interesting feature on this Blaze album is Junior Walker from TLD Music straight out of London. With his UK swag mixed with Bobby's Americanisms the result is quite hype with a drill/trap blended with afrobeat/dancehall flavor of instrumentation that gives you the feel of a European nightclub. "You definitely need to check out J. Walker's album too, it's that banger from across the pond. The world needs a message like Walker's now for sure" Explained Bobby.

One of the topics that is discussed on this album is substance abuse and dependency. Months prior to this album release, Bobby dropped the single So Far Gone where the producer for the beat sang the chorus. This vivid track walks us through what it was like, what happened and what life is like now all in three verses. This is also why the very next track is called Last Night because we never know when our last night on this Earth will be and what we do in this life is very important, especially WHO we put our trust into within the broken world that this is.

One song concept on this album (or assignment) was given to Bobby by his Pastor. The concept was simple, write a letter to The Lord. After our group wrote the letters, they were collected and mailed back to us all a few months later. The purpose was to see how God has been working in our lives comparatively from back when the letter was originally written and then see how He has been answering our prayers. "He (Bobby's pastor) gave us that exercise but I only stared at that blank paper. Since I wasn't sure how to even start since God knows me better than I know myself, how can I make a letter that God knew I would write one day anyway?" So Bobby's Pastor suggested he write his Letter 2 The Lord as a song which hopefully others can vibe with or even try that exercise on their own to see how God is always moving in all our lives.

"As far as collaborations go, Aaron S. has to be on it" Bobby explained. As many set out two at a time, Aaron & Bobby have been working on music since Blaze's pivot point into the CHH world of Gospel Rap in 2019 and the latest is the rhythmic reminder that Ya Not Alone. Aaron S. is not only a very prolific Gospel MC with an extensive catalog of his own but also a solid producer and engineer with much of his work being showcased throughout this Road 2 Redemption project. "I seriously could have never got to this next solo album without the guidance, direction and mentorship of Aaron, that's my brother for life with an impressive catalog of music himself."

This album also features another Gospel MC from Washington, PA named K-Ace who is heavily involved in Youth Ministry. This unique mix was produced by P.A. On The Track from Argentina who also produced the single Dear Lord from the 2022 album "Street Sermons" but back with the lyrical tactic of Speak N Tongue. In some Hip Hop circles that simply means the ability to rap fast, like a Road Runner (Double R) or twisting one's tongue. The Pentecostal perspective of the phrase "speaking in tongues" also implies that there always needs to be an interpreter but in this lyrical case it is a play on words. "K-Ace kills it for sure, you should check out the rest of his discography as well, his music is a great tool within his Youth outreach & ministry."

A few other tracks pop out on this album but the most controversial would undoubtably be the track Differently. This one says a LOT in just under three minutes and is a haunting reminder of what the kind of love that Christ was all about and the type of love that those who follow Him should probably consider before casting the first stone. There are only two verses and one of them is completely true but happened to someone I never directly met. All of these problems resonate in our world and will continue but sometimes we need to think differently if we are to truly follow Christ and the example He set before us.

The last single before this release was Lord Still Knows, the acoustic vibe that topped off this whole music project before it dropped into the ears that need to hear. This song is about making an amends and serves as a reminder that no matter what we go through in life, God still got us as long as we let Him.

Closing this album out is the song Seeds, this track is a message of hope but also (as our tongues are like a double edged sword) remember that what we say can either hurt or help another soul so we must always choose our words and actions wisely. This song is a dubstep style of EDM but with a lyrical delivery reiterating perseverance through the bondages that hold us back from falling into temptations.

After releasing The Prodigal Son in 2021, mentor & producer Aaron S. teamed up for Street Sermons in 2022. This new album is the next solo Gospel Hip Hop record by Bobby Blaze with various producers, studios and engineers, but all the same Seraphim Sounds music ministry with Aaron S. behind most of the production. This latest instalment has a very different sound with each track almost sounding like a different genre all in it's self. Hopefully, and with a lot more work, this album and it's music can give the world all more uplifting messages than the traditional that will help people instead of carnal glorification which leads to ignorance, pride or violence. In God we trust but it is in Christ we stand. #TurnItUp #InJesusName

<![CDATA[Debut Gospel Hip Hop Album]]>Mon, 01 Mar 2021 11:20:13 GMThttp://bobbyblaze.com/blog/using-hip-hop-to-conquer-tragedyBobby Blaze Using Hip Hop to Conquer Tragedy
Life is unpredictable and adversity is an unfortunate part of it. This is one thing that unites us all and all of us try to make sense of difficulty in various ways. Many of us pursue various vices, others hold-fast to their faith, but all of us can say that music has a way of touching our soul in ways that words cannot. Thus is the purpose of Bobby Blaze's new album "The Prodigal Son".

Bobby has been a hip hop artist and lyricist for well over a decade with mixtapes and solo albums but none have been quite as unique as this latest project. "Each track has its own story" Bobby explained, "This album is the culmination of hardships and about the journey to overcome." With ten years in the making, mostly through firsthand experience, Bobby shares his personal struggles and foundations of his faith like few artists have before.

After losing a few childhood friends from the opioid crisis that continues to plague our nation, Bobby put his pain on the song "Wear Me Down" in the hopes that others who struggle with addiction, or have loved ones that do, can find the strength to overcome before it is too late. It is also no secret that our world is constantly plagued by pandemics, protests and persecution as society seeks to find a reason for it all. With the state of the world this day in age, Bobby addresses that very issue with the song "Answer 2 The Pain" with hopes to bring clarity to the calamity we all experience each day.

Through divorce, addiction and loss of loved ones that we have all endured (some more than others) we can all find common ground through tragedy. The key is to persevere through the mishaps of life just as it is elaborated through the collaboration on this album with the same title and featuring the producers/songwriters Tone Jonez & Aaron S. So as you listen to Bobby's testimony, always remember you are not alone. The intent of this whole album is to give comfort and strength to those of us who need it most. There will always be a brighter day and it's always okay to pray.

Side Hustlin

During the time of isolation and quarantine families are forced to stay home together in closer proximity than before. Aside from children and spouses at home during the disruption of regular activities, there has been no better time to focus on aspects of your life that seem to be neglected by mundane minutia. So many people pray for more time to spend on this project or that project but, ironically, COVID-19 has provided that time for so many people if only they would take advantage of that opportunity and become more productive or reconnect with their loved ones.

For so many others this time is the opposite, it is incredibly difficult to pivot your mind to focus on side projects or spend time with family when there is no income. In those cases there is no better time to develop an alternative way to generate revenue with a side hustle. People still need to get around so ride share apps like Uber or Lyft are two of the most popular. With restaurants temporarily closing their doors but available for takeout you could deliver for people with apps like Door Dash or
Grub Hub. Uber is also in the food delivery business with their Uber Eats platform. These are also great alternatives for those who missed going out to eat, you can always have your favorite cuisine delivered to your table and help the delivery person keep food on theirs

When it comes to those with technical, academic, artistic or any other hands-on skill who are temporarily out of work, you can always teach others your trade by selling online classes with Skill Share or Udemy. If teaching is not your forte or you prefer working with clients you can post your services on Up Work or Fiverr. There are also the freelance/gig platforms Task Rabbit and Gig Walk depending on your state, country or region. With so many companies forcing employees to work from home, getting furloughed or laying people off, there is not better time to freelance with a platform such as these.

Please keep in mind that none of these are endorsements, I simply do not want anyone to struggle more than they need to in times of uncertainty and with apps readily available such as these then why not take advantage to them? Information is free, so why not capitalize on it and help each other out?

I, for one, have done my best to maximize my down time during this COVID quarantine. Not only have I dedicated more time to writing, rehearsing and rapping but also a part of developing The Veterans' Television Network and the academic platform History Exhumed. In fact, thanks to this time of quarantine and isolation, I was able to finish and release the single "Answer to the Pain" posted below. You can also check out the whole album "The Prodigal Son" streaming now on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon Music, Pandora, Soundcloud, YouTube Music, Tidal & iHeart Radio.

Meeting of the Mics

Such is the same with Columbus, OH's own (The Big Homie) Romey Dent and Pittsburgh, PA native (Yours Truly) Bobby Blaze. Even though born and raised in different cities, these two artists were destined to cross paths one evening at a mutual friend's house. That friend was another MC from the area by the name of Chipps who, along with a broad scope of other local rappers & artists, was all ready building a name for himself through mixtapes. Romey and Bobby both came to Chipps' residence along with other MCs to record music for their mixtapes, one of which called "The Squad" that was included on Bobby's album "Through These Eyes" and was also performed live during the show above. After many live performances and industry set backs Romey & Bobby began to work on a new mixtape venture and a debut solo album for Romey Dent but with the collapse of the record label Blaze was signed to and other legal troubles that Dent was facing resulted in both projects being significantly delayed as well as Romey's incarceration. Since neither of these projects should have been abandoned they were then merged into a new project aptly named "Free Romey Dent: The Mixtape" which showcased the work of both Romey and Bobby as well as some help from Bomb Baby Unlimited and Urban Records Entertainment.

In Retrospect

"It was brotherhood right after the hand shake" Romey recalled on his first impression of Bobby while Bobby thought, "This guy got bars for sure" and sure enough he did then as he does now. While Romey was serving his time, the mixtape was put into circulation nation wide, over seas and especially through his home town of Columbus, OH. While everyone from "Tha CO" could relate to and enjoy Romey's work while he was still incarcerated, it was the track titled "Cold-Um-B-Us" that increased his notoriety and kept his name (and voice) in the streets of Columbus. Even now, well after his stay at Noble Correctional Institution, he has returned to the stage with an arsenal of all new material, lyrics and hundreds of songs written and ready for the masses. Bobby Blaze is still developing new music, constantly writing, working on new video productions like the Slick Style Productions YouTube Channel as well as staying in the booth. Make sure to subscribe and definitely check out one of the hottest tracks from the "Free Romey Dent" mixtape below...

#OccupySteubenville & #OpRollRedRoll

My first encounter with Anonymous was during a tragedy that took place several years ago at Steubenville, OH involving the rape of a fifteen year old West Virginian girl who was unconscious at a high school party in Ohio involving two other teenage boys who were star players of their high school football team "Big Red." After this story broke in Steubenville various members of the school district and football team quickly tried to cover it up due to how high in regard they held their players at their school. After the unethical treatment of this story in Steubenville it soon exploded and gained the much needed attention world wide. Local and national news crews, myself included, were deployed to cover the story and my role was to broadcast it to an international network. The events of that day were surreal from the community rally at city hall to the candle light vigil held for the victim referred to as "Jane Doe" and all the while Anonymous was there for their support as their diligent work shined light on that case.

In the aftermath of this case both boys (both sixteen at the time) were found guilty and received the minimum sentence of two years in juvenile detention then later evaluated once they turn twenty-one to see if they will be added to the sex offender's list. Would have this case made the international headlines without the intervention of Anonymous? How far have we gone as a society that the influence of academic athletics would prompt an entire school district to cover up a felony especially one involving a minor to this severity? After the intervention of Anonymous in this case, particularly the #KnightSec within the group, I see that out of a tragedy there can be unity and whoever may be behind those masks (could be you) I hope that regardless of how vastly different we all are, at the end of the day I hope we all see the humanity in each of us. Even if it is shrouded in anonymity...

Shout out to #Anonymous
